I like your thesis idea and am doing a project that should certainly interest you. Please visit my page to see more.
I am altering the ecosystem so that it can be a more inviting place for natives that cannot utilize the space now. It is restoration of a sort but I prefer not to use the term because the stream system is entirely different now and really cannot be restored without removing the city. Since that can't happen, I am doing what I can to improve the site physically, hydrolically and spiritually.
