Outlaw Rock Quarry’s?
I think Boineers is a good thing, I think an organization like boineers is essential to help steer us away from the onrushing catastrophe of our ever increasing environmental neglect and abuse, let me just say it , our callous indifference. Most people just don’t care if it doesn’t immediately affect their pocketbook or safety! Bioneers is saying it; if you go on like this it will kill you, your children and may be the end of children altogether!
I built my first “solar” home in 1975. I have written 3 books of environmental responsibility and Sustainable architecture. I have built “solar adobe houses” “tire houses” daub and wattle houses” “straw houses” and many regular houses with sustainable design.
After that introduction let me say that I was disappointed when in listening to a bioneers program where a community is fighting a rock quarry from locating in there township, I heard a one sided program that bordered on fanatic exaggeration based on blind fear.
All corporations are not EVIL.
All corporations will not indiscriminately pollute drinking water with poison that will mame and kill.
If bioneers is to succeed it must keep on the firm ground of rational debate and fairness.
Should we as a nation outlaw all rock quarries?
The answer is no, that is not rational. We are left with the job of requiring rock quarry operations to do so without polluting. Without creating harmful dust, ground water pollution, wildlife habitat destruction, sound pollution etc. It can be done and should be done.
We should not outlaw rock quarries, all logging, paper manufacturing, mining etc.
It should be the mission of bioneers to encourage a dialog that will with fairness find a way to do things like rock quarrying in such a way that will be just not detrimental but in the total picture a benefit to the environment.
There is a way
With a little hope and hard work we can do it. As Barack Obama says,“Yes we can”
Thanks,
Edward O. Paschich
