Hello All -
I have been a member of this group for awhile. They offer some great tips and ideas on simple ways to 'green' the everyday experience.
I'm curious what other sites ya'll may use -
Don't have any great tips for sites, I'm more of a book person, and I choose them based on very specific questions. I have some blogs I follow, but they are pretty lifestyle specific (rural micro-farmer type). I'd hope that Local Living can bridge that gap. If your are (as I am) interested in the nitty-gritty of day to day life for some one trying to live the rural/sustainable life, then I probable have some links for you. If, however, you want answers to more specific questions, then we need the questions.
I just joined this community. Thanks for starting it. I like Carbon Counter because it allows you to figure out the cost of actual trips using your own vehicle, not just an estimate. We're all different and use things differently. Talk about nitty and gritty, in order for me to get to town, I drive 25 miles one way from my rural homestead. I always combined trips, but now I'm starting to use the bus (still have to drive 5 miles to the closest stop to me--sometimes I bike there!) which only cost $2 each way. I work from home via Internet and try to limit town trips to 2x a week, 1 time in a car.
this is an organization that does monthly challenges on being"greener". They also have tons of ideas on cutting waste and energy consumption. and links.
i get regular emails from them, and i actually read them and take the challenges. http://www.newdream.org/
