Practical solutions for people + planet

My mom, goodhearted RN that she is sent me this video. She's probably thinking thank goodness....what with a daughter that rock climbs, rides motorcycles and trains martial arts. But I'm thinking, if we keep not letting people die, then what kind of population problem will we have?

When did having plastic body parts and breathing machines and regenerating parts become something that we naturally do to survive? Since when are there no consequences for our choices to eat unhealthy, not exercise, or live dangerously? Does anyone else see a problem with this new "miracle" technology?

This is just another manifestation of the core belief of out civilization - Humans are exempt from natural laws. We walk as minor gods on this planet, taking what we want, and discarding the rest. We need not worry about the laws that govern natural populations. Nature may decree that increasing food supply always increases population, but that's not the case for humans. We have free will. We can defy the law. Now we can defy death, reinforcing our god complex. But, we can't even imagine the consequences If we can't change our core beliefs, the things our civilization was founded on, then there is no hope for us or the flowers..
