Interdependency: A Lesson from the Bees

Robo Beekeeper

It's an interesting thing that part of beekeeping seems to be about deconstructing our own notions of individualism. First we think it's a lesson about the hive and then we realize it's about our own interdependence too.

Whether it's… Continue

10,000 girls force me to think like a bee

My girls arrived this weekend, all 10,000 of them. The package installation of bees went seamlessly with the help and generosity of Albuquerque beekeepers who banded together to help "new beeks" such as myself. Yest… Continue

Hi Chantal -
Holy smokes, I am working on a story for my network ecopaparazzi about bees and urban beekeeping and I come here and see that you've got those bases totally covered. Will you please join ecopaparazzi and be a voice for the bees? I would love it if you made regular contributions about bees by posting your blogs and photos. Not all at once, of course, because that would be a bit overwhelming. But bees are a topic of great importance, and it would be fabulous to have a regular posting on bees so people really start to understand the problems and be inspired to become part of the solution. I am getting ready to promote the video Pollen Nation, so your recent blog about interdependence would be ideal.

I think you'll like ecopaparazzi; it's an eco photojournalism site that encourages people to take action.

All the best,
Jeanette

Like you, I am also involved in online communities. Community building is something I do online and offline. Sounds like you're the same. I love what you are involved in. Such wonderful comments about our connectivity. I resonate with your perspective and am glad to see the kind of blogging you're doing. You might like to know about another environmental social network that I launched just two days ago. I'd love for you to check it out and, if you like it, come join us.

Thanks Chantal,
Recently I started creating encaustic paintings with beeswax. I love that smell! This weekend I am also going to experiment with soy wax. Not sure which would be the best environmental choice. Any ideas on that?

Hi Chantal, thanks much for the welcome.

I like bees too. When do you think you'll be getting your hive?
