I write a weekly column about knitting and crochet for the Anchorage Daily News, write and design knitwear patterns, do environmental interior design, built the first passive solar hybred house in Alaska in 1979, draw and paint, founded and lead a nonprofit dedicated to uniting Alaskans through education and preservation in the needle arts, founded an annual local event called The Yarn Expo, and I do advocacy work for people, such as myself, who have MCS (multiple chemical sensitivities).
Welcome to the Women's Leadership group! Hoping to hear all about your thoughts and questions and projects. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about this group.
Alaska has lots of needle art and many fiber folks doing all sorts of things. We have a very large Yarn Expo that we do, and Lily chin has even taught at this event. There are several Guilds all over the very large state. Also, we have the Alaska State Yarn Council, which is two years old this week (www.alaskayarncouncil.org). Its purpose is to build an endowment to sustain the needle arts through education in the traditional mediums. It's very exciting that we are the first state to do this! Also, I write a weekly column in knitting for the anchorage Daily News. I love the ideas you promote, and how did you get started on this? By the way, I used to live in Santa Fe and was a member of the Albuquerque Knitters Guild. Happy knitting,

This is my first posting on the Bioneers site. I love the whole idea of being a part of solutions for our best World. The first time I heard about the Bioneers, I felt it was my tribe and it feels so good to know that this is where my family can be found; those with similar views and passion about the possibilities, spiritual, environmental and human.
